When Stars Fall Like Leaves

By September 2, 2011No Comments

And all the host of heaven shall be dissolved, and the heavens shall be rolled together as a scroll: and all their host shall fall down, as the leaf falleth off from the vine, and as a falling fig from the fig tree. Isaiah 34:4 KJV

This is a prophesy of future judgment upon the earth. It is quoted in Revelation 6:13-14 as part of the judgments of the sixth seal, which will be opened by the Lamb, Jesus Christ, during the seventieth week of Daniel, the Tribulation Period. Jesus is the only one worthy to open the book and loosen the seals because, as the sacrifice for sin, all future judgment has been committed to Him by the Father (John 6:22). This time of judgment will be so great that both the heavens and the earth will be affected: stars will fall like leaves from a tree. Although this sounds discouraging, it is actually the opposite, it assures us that the Lord is in control and will deal with the sin of our world, the source of all our problems.

Lord, I often look at the terrible effects of sin in our world today and wonder how long we can continue as we are. Sometimes I wish You would judge the world because of sin even now, but Your Word reminds me that You are in control and there is a day of judgment coming. I rest in that for I know the timing of Your will is perfect.
