Now for a long season Israel hath been without the true God, and without a teaching priest, and without law. But when they in their trouble did turn unto the LORD God of Israel, and sought him, he was found of them. 2 Chronicles 15:3-4 KJV
I find great comfort in these words not only for myself but others I know who are not walking with the Lord as they should. These verses describe a sad time in the life of Israel: they were not walking with God, they were under no teacher of the Word, and did not seek the Word of God for themselves. That is a true description for so many even today. But all is not lost. Although they may have turned from God, He has not turned from them. In their troubled lives, if they will turn to the Lord and seek Him, they will find Him. That is a great promise for us but also a great encouragement concerning our loved ones. Do not give up on them; pray for them that they will turn again to the Lord.
Lord, how glad I am that You are ready to receive us even when we have walked away from You. This is not an untried promise but one I have personally experienced to be true. Because You do not give up on me help me not give up on others.
