The Promise of Revival

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14 KJV

These are well-known words to the people of God but too often they are not well practiced. Though written so long ago for the people of Israel they remain true for us as well. When, as the people of God, we humble ourselves, pray, seek His face, and turn from sin, then God makes a promise: He will hear our prayers, He will forgive our sins, and He will heal our land. We know God hears and forgives but we are often hesitant to apply the final promise of His healing. We tend to think this was limited to Israel. But consider this: when we are right with God it affects the way we treat our mates, children, neighbors, and the way we work, so that indeed healing does come to the whole land.

Lord, what great promises You make to us! I am amazed how often we fall short of their blessing. Before this can happen for our nation it must first happen for me. Help me to ever come before You in the way described here that I, my family, and ultimately our nation might experience these promises of hearing, forgiving, and healing.
