For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him. Herein thou hast done foolishly: therefore from henceforth thou shalt have wars. 2 Chronicles 16:9 KJV
These are words of great encouragement to the child of God. The Lord looks for people to show Himself strong, to show that He can be trusted and depended on. There is a catch however; He is looking for people who have hearts devoted or loyal to Him. To depend on Him one day and ourselves or someone else another would indicate we do not know where our help comes from. God will not bless such uncertainty and will leave us to our own ways. King Asa had experienced both the encouragement and rebuke of these words. Early in life he trusted the Lord and experienced His strength, but later he turned from the Lord and looked to others for his help, as a result his life ended with pain and difficulty.
Lord, I want my heart to be found right by You because I need and want to experience Your strength from day to day. I have already found You to be trustworthy so protect me from the foolishness of Asa who turned from trusting You alone later in life. I want to finish strong in Your strength and not weak because of my own foolishness.
