Read Exodus 34:29-35
And it came to pass, when Moses came down from mount Sinai with the two tables of testimony in Moses’ hand, when he came down from the mount, that Moses wist not that the skin of his face shone while he talked with him. Exodus 34:29 KJV
Exodus 34:29-35 illustrates the effect of spending time with God. First, no one can enjoy fellowship with God without being affected by it. Our communion with the Lord changes us. Second, we become less occupied with ourselves. Though the face of Moses shone he did not know it. This shows the difference between self-righteousness and true godliness. The one manifests pride and the other humility. Third, others will be aware we have spent time with God. We won’t need to wear a sticker on our shirt, “I Spent Time with God!” People will know it just by looking at us. Fourth, we will have the desire and discipline for lasting change. Paul tells us in 2 Corinthians 3 the shining face of Moses faded. To maintain his glow, Moses went regularly into the presence of God. To maintain our glow we must spend regular time with the Lord. Can others see we have spent time with Him?
Lord, I want to have the glow of your presence in my life, but to have it I must spend regular time with you. Sometimes I lack both desire and discipline. Please help me be consistent in my time with you that my life inside and out will be changed by it.
A question to ponder as you sleep: When people officially recognized as servants of God constantly draw attention to themselves, what will it indicate about their time with God
