Read Exodus 36 – 37
And Moses called Bezaleel and Aholiab, and every wisehearted man, in whose heart the Lord had put wisdom, even every one whose heart stirred him up to come unto the work to do it. Exodus 36:2 KJV
In chapters 36-37 the work on the Tabernacle is begun; it is also called the Sanctuary in these verses. The name Tabernacle emphasized God’s dwelling among them, and Sanctuary taught that God’s presence made it a place of holiness. A large number of men and women (Exodus 35:25-26), especially equipped for the building of this holy place, were chosen to do the work. They were wise-hearted for two reasons: (1) God gave them the wisdom needed, and (2) God stirred up their hearts for the work. Among these Bezaleel and Aholiab were chosen to supervise the work. Their names indicate their attitude. Bezaleel means In the Shadow of God, and Aholiab means The Father is My Tent. Men characterized by such names understood the work was not about them, their wisdom or skill, or even their temperament but instead was all about the One they served.
Lord, you have called and equipped each of us for some task of service, may it be your wisdom we lean on and your stirring that motivates us! May we be characterized by your shadow rather than trying to cast our own shadow!
A question to ponder through the day: What steps do I need to take to make sure the work I have been called to do is accomplished with God’s wisdom, God’s stirrings, and in His shadow?
