Using Our Days Wisely

By May 4, 2011No Comments

So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom. Psalm 90:12 KJV

This is a psalm of Moses. It begins with the eternality of God. He is from everlasting to everlasting. One thousand years is like yesterday for Him. But then Moses turns to the brevity of our days on earth. At best we have seventy to eighty years to work with, but we waste it in opposition to God. So Moses prays teach us to number our days that we might apply our hearts to wisdom. Because we think we have a lot of time to work with we spend it foolishly, but then suddenly our days are gone and our time is over. It is important to understand that the number of our days is brief and that we need to use them wisely. Such wisdom will enable us to rejoice all our days in the glory and beauty of our God.

Lord, again I am grateful for Your mercy toward me. You give me days to live meaningfully to Your glory and I waste them on open and secret sins (verse 8). Help me better understand the brevity of my life and to apply my heart to wisdom.
