Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he. Proverbs 29:18 KJV
In recent years books about visionary leadership have often quoted this verse, but this does not concern organizational vision set forth by a strong leader; instead it is the setting forth of God’s vision, His revelation, the Word of God. People do not perish due to the lack of visionaries, but they do perish when the Word of God is not taught. It is essential not only to salvation but all of life as well. We need to hear it, believe it, and share it with others. If we fail to do so then people’s lives are not transformed, they do what is right in their own eyes, and their lives are destroyed by the consequences of sin. The people that truly enjoy life are those who have the opportunity to receive God’s Word and obey it.
Lord, how grateful I am for the revelation of Your Word. Through it I have enjoyed both life and happiness. Help me be responsible in keeping it and communicating it to others.
