Thus saith the LORD, which giveth the sun for a light by day, and the ordinances of the moon and of the stars for a light by night, which divideth the sea when the waves thereof roar; The LORD of hosts is his name: If those ordinances depart from before me, saith the LORD, then the seed of Israel also shall cease from being a nation before me for ever. Israel continues to be a focal point of world conflict. It will continue to do so for some time. Leaders and their nations that boast of their intent to destroy Israel would do well to note these two verses. God makes a promise, it has nothing to do with the performance of the people of Israel; it has everything to do with God who makes the promise. Israel will cease being a nation only if the ordinances of the sun, moon, stars, and sea depart. In other words, Israel will cease as a nation only if the world ceases to exist. That is quite a promise! If we are going to believe anything else in God’s Word, then we must believe this as well. Fact is, God doesn’t just keep some of His promises; He keeps every one of them!
Lord, how grateful I am that You make and keep promises. My own future is determined and dependent on them, especially that of eternal salvation. As Israel can depend on You to keep Your promises to them for the future, so can I.
