Satan’s Access to Heaven

By June 1, 2014No Comments

Read Job 1 – 3

Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them.  Job 1:6 KJV

People are often shocked to learn Satan has access to God in heaven. We would like to think he is locked away without access to God or to us as His people. That day will come in the future but for now God has allowed Satan access. This should not be as frightening as it seems to be to some. This is not a meeting of equals. God is always in control and uses such encounters to keep Satan in his place. Here, Satan accuses God of making life too easy for Job. As the events of the book of Job unfold I am especially encouraged by two facts: (1) God is always in control, and (2) Satan is always limited. Satan can do nothing more than what God allows him to do. As long as I understand these two basic facts I will never need to fear what Satan can do to me. It is just as important to realize God is in control of me too. My life will always be at its safest when I submit to Him.

Lord, how glad I am that You make the final decisions about my life. I realize Satan is a real enemy and, according to Your Word, is out to destroy me (1 Peter 5:8), but it is comforting to know he can never do more than You allow.

A question to ponder through the day: If God is in control of all things, including Satan and my life, then what should I want to be true in my relationship with God?
