Reaching the Seemingly Unreachable

By September 4, 2012No Comments

And when he was in affliction, he besought the LORD his God, and humbled himself greatly before the God of his fathers, And prayed unto him: and he was entreated of him, and heard his supplication, and brought him again to Jerusalem into his kingdom. Then Manasseh knew that the LORD he was God. 2 Chronicles 33:12-13 KJV

I am always amazed and encouraged when I read the story of Manasseh. He was the worst king Judah ever had. He killed the prophets and turned the people away from God. Judah never recovered from his wickedness. You would think there is no way of reaching such a sinner. We see people around us that we put into the same lump. We assume they would never be open to God that they are unreachable, and so we don’t try to reach them or pray for them. But God does not give up on people, even the worst of sinners! God used affliction in Manasseh’s life to get his attention and turn his heart, with the result that he finished his life serving the Lord. God continues to reach unreachable sinners even today.

Lord, how grateful I am that You reach the seemingly unreachable. You drew me by your love when I did not deserve it. When I am tempted to give up on certain people, people I consider to be unreachable, remind me that You do not give up on them and neither should I.
