Now it is in mine heart to make a covenant with the LORD God of Israel, that his fierce wrath may turn away from us. 2 Chronicles 29:10 KJV
These were the words of King Hezekiah to the religious leaders of Judah shortly after he began his reign. His father, Ahaz, was one of the worst kings Judah had experienced. He left the nation in a mess economically, militarily, politically, and worst of all spiritually. But Hezekiah had a different kind of heart than his father. He loved the Lord and sought to serve Him. Hezekiah sought revival for the nation, a renewed relationship with the Lord. It is important to note that in his desire for national revival he understood it had to start in his own heart before he could expect it to happen with others. If we want to see revival to come to our own nation, in our time, then it has to start in our heart as well.
Lord, the problems, which exist in my time and place, are easily recognized; we suffer economically, morally, and politically because we suffer spiritually. As a people we need a renewed relationship with You. Help me see and change what is wrong in my heart.
