Basement-flooded2Walton, N.Y.—In 2006, floodwaters came quickly. They destroyed and damaged roads and wiped out Pines Brook Baptist Church’s basement and its contents. Pastor Carl Butler and the congregation were shocked at the amount of cleanup and work to be done, but they were committed to completing the job no matter how long it took.

Soon after the devastation hit, a GARBC pastor in Florida called the director of BBC, Michael Nolan, to let him know what had happened to Pines Brook Baptist Church. Michael immediately called the church to assess the damage. Pastor Butler reported that the damage was great but the people were committed to rebuilding. He also said it would take a while to recoup financially. That’s where emergency assistance from BBC came in. A total of $9,000 in emergency help was sent to the church to make up the difference they needed.

Basement-After2 In July 2009, three years after the flood, Michael had the privilege of attending a dedication service at Pines Brook Baptist Church. Pastor Butler told Michael, “What we had before the flood was good, but what we have now is so much better.” Pastor Butler and the congregation at Pines Brook are praising the Lord for the great things being accomplished at their church.
