In response to forecasts that put Regular Baptist churches in the direct path of Hurricane Matthew Thursday, Oct. 6, Regular Baptist Builders Club, along with GARBC staff members, called churches that appeared to be in the impact zone. E-mails were also sent to all GARBC churches in Florida, letting them know they were being prayed for and asking them to keep Regular Baptist Builders Club informed of the well-being of their churches and communities.

After monitoring the weather on Wednesday, Oct. 5, Michael Nolan, director of Regular Baptist Builders Club, decided to pack the ministry’s Disaster Relief trailer in preparation to clean up affected areas and notified volunteers who were ready to help. Like many others, Nolan prayed, watched, and waited to see what path the hurricane would take. Thankfully, the hurricane stayed offshore, sparing communities from the massive damage that was expected.

Friday morning, still not knowing for sure what Hurricane Matthew would do, Nolan headed to Florida with the Disaster Relief trailer. Along the way, phone calls and e-mails flooded in with wonderful reports that there had been no major damage and only minor cleanup was needed. With that news, supplies were dropped off and minor cleanup help was given in a couple of areas, then Nolan went back to focusing on the hurricane that was still moving up the coast into southern Georgia and the Carolinas. Fortunately, GARBC churches were far enough inland that they did not take on any damage.

Join the Regular Baptist Builders Club team in praising the Lord for sparing Regular Baptist churches. If you know of any Regular Baptist churches that need assistance, or if the community your church ministers to needs assistance, please let Regular Baptist Builders Club know so it can respond immediately.

Hurricane Matthew is a reminder of how everyone needs to be ready to Pray, Give, or Go!
