And Sarah said, God hath made me to laugh, so that all that hear will laugh with me. Genesis 21:6 KJV
When both Abraham and Sarah first heard God promise them a son in their old age they laughed out of disbelief (17:17; 18:12). Abraham would be 100 and Sarah 90 (17:17)! We sometimes laugh at what God wants to do in our lives because we do not believe it is possible. But God delights in taking our laughter of disbelief and changing it into real joy. He often does this by placing us into seemingly impossible situations. What a difference in Sarah from the day she laughed out of skepticism to the day she held Isaac (his name means laughter) in her arms. Her laughter then was rejoicing in what God did! He is the same today as He was then. God still delights in making us laugh with rejoicing in Him.
Lord, how good it is to look back at all the times You have made me laugh with rejoicing as You have used me and done things in my life I did not think were possible. Thank You for being the God who delights in making His people laugh.
