The Right Leadership

By March 15, 2011No Comments

That I gave my brother Hanani, and Hananiah the ruler of the palace, charge over Jerusalem: for he was a faithful man, and feared God above many. Nehemiah 7:2 KJV

To enjoy success, the right leadership is crucial in every circumstance, but some are more important than others. Having the wrong men in charge of Jerusalem would have undermined everything that had been accomplished. The right leadership will protect God’s people and purposes from enemies both within and without. Nehemiah appointed men because of their proven character. Two characteristics are mentioned: faithfulness and fear of God. Faithfulness provides a testimony, which can be seen. Never put people in leadership who have not first shown themselves faithful. Fear of God more than man is necessary to insure faithfulness. Leaders that please people first always lead them to ruin.

Lord, I want these two characteristics to be true of me. Help me not give in to pressure to please people instead of pleasing You. Also, as I look for people of leadership, help me demand these same characteristics in them.
