The Precious Cornerstone

By August 31, 2011No Comments

Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste. Isaiah 28:16 KJV

Here is a contrast between false security (Verse 15) and the real security of God’s people. Jerusalem planned to rely on a false alliance with foreigners but this would prove useless, ultimately the Lord would be their only security. This verse is clearly a Messianic prophesy of the Lord Jesus Christ, it is quoted often in the New Testament as such: Acts 4:11; Romans 9:33; 10:11; Ephesians 2:20; 1 Peter 2:6-8. Even Jesus quotes it with reference to Himself: Matthew 21:42; Mark 12:10; Luke 20:17. Jesus is the tried stone, tested and proven true. He is the precious corner stone to which our lives are connected. He is the sure foundation on which we stand and none that believe on Him will be ashamed.

Lord, indeed You have become the tried and precious corner stone of my life, the sure foundation on which I stand for life and eternity. Since experiencing You as such I have never been ashamed and do not expect to be so for eternity.
