Our culture seems to thrive on stirring up improper sexual desires. The consequences are increasingly obvious. Proverbs 5 contains much wisdom for our time. The first half warns against the consequences of sexual immorality, and the second encourages sexual purity. Verses 18-19 admonishes young men (but can also be used with young women) to commit their satisfaction of such desires to a future partner in marriage and then to remain faithful to that relationship. Let us encourage our young people to plan and prepare for healthy marriages, and let us nurture, protect, and enjoy the marriages that we have. Marriage is a gift from God filled with benefits and blessings for us, for our children, and our society.
Lord, in a culture that promotes the opposite help me take the steps needed to protect and promote my marriage that I might always enjoy the blessings You intended for it from creation. Help me also do what I can to encourage the same for my children and others.
