keep company, or come unto one of another nation; but God hath showed me that I should not call any man common or unclean. Acts 10:28 KJV
In a dramatic vision (Acts 10:10-16) God taught Peter that the gospel was not to be limited to one ethnic group like the Jews but was intended to cross ethnic boundaries. Following the vision God immediately gave Peter opportunity to put this new insight into practice by sending him to the home of Cornelius, a Gentile. There he shared the gospel with a large gathering of non-Jews. The whole group who heard Peter believed in Christ and was saved. This was an important turning point for the early Church. We have had opportunity to hear and believe today because they made the transition. However, we still need to be reminded of this lesson. The gospel is for everyone and not only those like us.
Lord, even today, we still allow our prejudices to keep us from taking the gospel to others that are different from us. Help me be as bold and brave as Peter was. Although it was very hard for him, he set aside his own prejudices to share Christ. I want to be able to do the same.
