God’s Word in My Heart

By October 26, 2012No Comments

Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee. Psalm 119:11 KJV

It is hard to overlook Psalm 119, it is 176 verses in length, and what a delight it is to read and meditate on each one. The theme of this great psalm is the Word of God: what it is, what it can do, and how sweet and precious it is to the child of God. It is developed along the Hebrew alphabet with twenty-two sections of eight lines with each following the next letter of the alphabet. I have many favorite verses from this psalm but the one I have found most helpful is verse 11. To hid God’s Word in one’s heart is to place it there as a guiding principle of living. That takes some effort on the part of a believer, but the result of doing so is worth the time involved. God’s Word in a believer’s heart protects against sin.

Lord, Your Word is everything it is taught to be in this psalm. Help me to continue making it the most important part of my life, hiding it in my heart that it might keep me from sinning against You.
