Of old hast thou laid the foundation of the earth: and the heavens are the work of thy hands. They shall perish, but thou shalt endure: yea, all of them shall wax old like a garment; as a vesture shalt thou change them, and they shall be changed: But thou art the same, and thy years shall have no end. Psalm 102:25-27 KJV
I do not know about you, but one of the most difficult things for me is change. And yet, we live in a world of constant change don’t we? Our bodies are constantly changing. Our lifestyles are constantly changing. Our communities, neighborhoods, and our families constantly change. Everything seems to be constantly changing! All this change gets to be a little overwhelming at times. But even though so many things change, I am happy to know that God never changes. We are reminded in this psalm that the heavens and earth will change and even perish, but God will not, He remains the same, He is eternal, and shall endure. By looking to Him, we find stability for living in an ever changing world.
Lord, sometimes I wish I could just hold on to things and people around me in such a way that they would stay the same. But of course that is not possible. You made me to change and the world I live in to change. But though everything else changes You do not, so by clinging to You I gain stability for both now and eternity. You are my stability.
