And the king said, What honour and dignity hath been done to Mordecai for this? Then said the king’s servants that ministered unto him, There is nothing done for him. Esther 6:3 KJV
While wicked Haman was sleeping, confident he would soon have Mordecai put to death, God kept King Ahasuerus awake. To help overcome his insomnia he had the chronicles of his reign read. God directed his attention to the account of how Mordecai had saved his life but had never been rewarded. The next morning, events would unfold very differently than Haman would have dreamed. As God worked in the background and in the circumstances of the king to bring about His plan to save Mordecai and protect the Jewish people, He works in our lives as well. He brings circumstances together at just the right time to meet needs in our lives. We do not always realize it, but God is always in control.
Lord, how thankful I am that You are in control of my life and the circumstances that affect it. I do not always need to see how You are working, but I do want to live in the confidence that You are working for my good in all things.
