Giveo ut from among you three men for each tribe: and I will send them, and they shall rise, and go through the land, and describe it according to the inheritance of them; and they shall come again to me.. Joshua 18:4 KJV
Seven tribes lacked the motivation to claim their inheritance; to change their attitude, Joshua gave them four directives: (1) they were to choose three men from each tribe to serve as their representatives. (2) These representatives were to walk through the land observing first-hand all God had for them. That will always be the place to start in changing our attitude about the things of God. (3) Besides observing they were also to describe or survey the land. This demanded personal attention to detail. Such detail involves work, time, and persistence, but the result is a deep and lasting impression. (4) They were then to come back and give a report to Joshua. This would stir both their hearts and those of their fellow tribesmen. When we fail to share what God is doing in it keeps us from being excited and robs others of the opportunity to rejoice in the Lord.
Lord, keep me looking through the inheritance you have for me, giving attention to its details, and help me talk about it to others that they and I might rejoice in all you have for us.
