A Better View of God

By October 1, 2012No Comments

Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? Declare, if thou hast understanding. Job 38:4 KJV

God is speaking to Job and helping him gain a different perspective of God’s control than had been expressed by him in his dialogue with his friends. Job was actually saying that God had not dealt fairly with him. He was willing to reprove God in order to justify himself. Most of us have done the same at some point. God helped Job see differently through a series of insightful questions. This creation question is just one, and it makes obvious the vast difference between us and God. When God made the world none of us advised Him on how to do it right. Our ability to advise Him concerning our lives is no better. As he heard God speak, Job was humbled. We have no right to think differently.

Lord, forgive me for the times I have been so arrogant to think I knew better about my life than You, or the times I have questioned Your fairness toward me. I have no right to contend with You at all. You are high, and right, and just. I am simply an object of Your grace for which I am very grateful.
